The name of the archangel Michael means "who is like God?
He is considered the 'supreme leader of the heavenly army', i.e. of the angels at war against evil, which in the Apocalypse is represented by a dragon with its angels; defeated in the fight, it was cast out of the heavens and plunged to earth.
